1. 1. As the fibres in paper can only be recycled about 6 times it would not be long before there was no fibre available for paper making without the introduction of fresh fibre.
   2. To maintain the cycle it is vital that wherever possible used paper is captured and recycled so as to maintain a healthy supply of fibre for remanufacture into new products.
   3. Indeed some paper based products such as newsprint and packaging materials are produced from 100% recycled fibre. Some have a proportion of recycled content and other like high grade office and copier papers are typically made from fresh virgin fibre.
   4. By utilizing the most appropriate fibre source for the product we ensure that the end products are fit for purpose while still providing the best value result.
   5. Europe is the world leader when it comes to recycling paper. 72% of our paper is now recycled. This means more recycled fibres are being used as a raw material by Europe’s paper producers. In 1992, paper for recycling made up 35% of raw material, compared to 51% virgin fibre. In 2014, 46% of raw material was recycled fibre and 39% was virgin fibre.
   6. We can see from the above that the careful management of forests, the production of paper products from virgin fibre, their eventual introduction into the recycling chain and the production of new products from the recycled fibre all work together to create a thoroughly sustainable and efficient process that makes full use of a renewable resource.
   7. Office paper is only 5% of the world’s consumption of paper and board, and the most demanding, so it is ideal to use virgin paper for this, and then recycle into less demanding applications.
   8. Paper should be recycled in its own stream to prevent contamination.

1. Only buy paper products that are made with wood from sustainably managed forests.
2. Recycle as much of your waste paper as possible
